Welfare Committee at campus meeting for Katrina Relief
Minutes were approved as submitted.
OLD BUSINESS
[1] Faculty Salon
We will try to schedule six Faculty Salon
presentations for the academic year 2005-2006 - Oct, Nov, Dec and Feb, Mar, and
Apr. Salons will be held in the Faculty
Lounge on Thursday afternoons, 4:00-5:30 PM.
Lori agreed to ask faculty members to be presenters. All committee members will help with
advertising and refreshments.
[2] Committee Elections
Liza agreed to work on faculty elections
in the spring; she has all pertinent information.
NEW BUSINESS
[1] Faculty Mentoring
Program
The
committee works with VPAA to implement the mentoring program. There was some discussion about the
effectiveness of last year’s program.
[2] Children on Campus
Policy
Discussion about the difficulty of
implementing this policy and about the reasons for promoting this kind of a
policy at a Catholic, women-centered institution surfaced.
[3] Risk Management Policy
Concerns were raised regarding a number of
items included in the recently circulated Risk Management policy - guest
speakers, references calls, and Hi-Skip students, etc.
[4] Scheduling of Academic
Assemblies
The decision to schedule academic
assemblies on Fridays makes it impossible for a large number of faculty to have
a research day. This coupled with some
recent pressures for faculty to take on overloads at the last minute bring into
question the scholarship issue for faculty.
Debbie will ask for a
committee appointment with Sue Blanshan to discuss new business items. In addition, President McGuire has asked to
meet with committee to review Middle States responsibilities.
Respectfully submitted...
