Minutes

Meeting: Thursday, October 6, 2005

Present: Harris-O’Brien, Child, Gamundi, Iodice, Shpunt

The meeting was called to order at 12:00 N.

The minutes of the September meeting were approved.

Emilio Iodice has agreed to speak at the October Faculty Salon on China and trade issues. The day and time will be finalized and information circulated to the faculty.

Work continues on the Faculty Mentoring Program. October 18 has been set for the workshop.

President McGuire joined the meeting. She first clarified some of the issues that the committee had raised with Dr. Blanshan concerning the Risk Management Policy and the Children on Campus Policy. She then went on to discuss two Middle States issues that the committee needs to address.

[1] A survey of faculty use of resources needs to be conducted. President McGuire will circulate a draft and - if the committee approves - perhaps the survey can be conducted on-line and tabulated using administrative resources.

[2] The Faculty Handbook needs to be edited in order to reflect the new three school governance structure that is in place. President McGuire distributed a sample of the type of editing that is being done. Once the process is completed, the committee will review the edits and oversee the approval process.

President McGuire reminded us that Dr. Sweeney, Chair of the Middle States Team that will conduct the evaluation, will be on campus Monday, October 17, 2005.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 PM.
